I am a Christian, husband, and father. In my free time, I like to read. For fiction, I’m a fan of spy thrillers (Clancy and similar) and medieval fantasy (Tolkien and similar). For nonfiction, I like to read books on theology, psychology and counseling, history, business, economics, and geopolitics. But I always read the Bible first and foremost. As C.H. Spurgeon said, “Visit many books. But live in the Bible.”
I help people overcome porn addiction, sex addiction, infidelity, and betrayal trauma.
I practice at Restored Life Counseling. You can call or text me at 623-267-5849. You can see me in person inside Faith Bible Church at 17230 N 59th Ave Room 108, Glendale, AZ 85308. Mail should be sent to either 2512 East Evergreen BLVD – 1336, Vancouver, WA 98661, or 5830 W Thunderbird Rd, Suite B8 PMB 1038, Glendale, AZ 85306-4655.
Philosophy and Approach to Counseling
I am a Christian. I do not hide it, downplay it, or apologize for it. Everything I do in counseling is rooted first in Christian Scripture (the sixty-six books of the Protestant Canon). I also see tremendous scientific and clinical benefit in carefully integrating insights from Interpersonal Neurobiology (especially as articulated by Curt Thompson), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and Developmental and Attachment theories of Psychology. Clients are not required to believe or practice as I do for me to help them. I am simply being transparent about who I am.
Success in counseling depends on you. I can give compassion to your story and challenges; help you polish and sharpen tools you already have and then give you a few new tools to help you overcome your challenges. Even then, I firmly believe that it is my job to work myself out of a job. Successful clients make time to invest three to five hours per week, in addition to our sessions, in achieving their goals. If you are not seeing changes in your life by somewhere between the third and sixth sessions, I am happy to provide a referral to a colleague who may be a better fit.
