Nick Foster

Find hope with Nick Foster, a counseling intern in Glendale, AZ. This Army veteran focuses on PTSD, sexual addiction, and men’s issues using a Christ-centered approach.
Meet Nick Foster, Counseling Intern
Welcome. My name is Nick Foster, and I am a counseling intern dedicated to walking alongside individuals as they navigate life’s most difficult challenges. I am a family man, a 10-year Army veteran, and a follower of Jesus. My approach is client-centered and straightforward: I am here to advocate for you and to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and valued.
My journey to this profession was a direct calling. After serving in the military and experiencing my own struggles with PTSD, I spent time on the “other side of the table” as a client. I know what it’s like to sit in despair, and I also know the profound healing that can be found there. This personal experience, combined with a background in pastoral counseling, ignited a passion to help hurting people find hope.
My Approach to Counseling
I believe that true change is possible, but it requires consistency and a willingness to do the work, both inside and outside of our sessions. My goal is to partner with you, helping you get from point A to point B.
Clinically, I am drawn to evidence-based practices such as:
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): To help identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors.
-
Narrative Therapy: To explore the stories you tell about yourself and find new, more empowering narratives.
-
Christ-Centered Existential Therapy: To walk with you as you ask life’s big questions and search for meaning.
While I am committed to our work, my number one priority is your well-being. If we find that I am not the best fit for your specific needs, I will gladly help refer you to a provider who is.
Areas of Focus
As a war veteran who has navigated my own recovery, I am particularly drawn to helping clients with:
-
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
-
Sexual Addiction
-
Men’s Issues
-
Spiritual Struggles & Questions
As an intern, I am also open to working with individuals and couples facing a wide variety of challenges.
Integrating Faith
My work is built on a Christ-centered foundation. I believe the most profound and lasting change comes from submitting our lives to Him. However, I am committed to meeting you exactly where you are on your journey.
I often describe faith integration like a “volume setting.” You decide how much or how little you want Scripture, prayer, and the Holy Spirit to be an explicit part of our sessions. Whether you are still on “milk” or ready for “solid food” in your walk, I will respect your pace and your process.
