I help people find meaning and healing.
Mental distress impacts our health and our relationships. Soul care is about addressing the present mental anguish and making meaning of our past experiences so that we can protect our hearts and minds for the future. At least that is the journey that I have been on that has brought forth beauty from the ashes. I immigrated to the US when I was 5. I could not speak English at the time. My parents could not speak English at the time and had to start a new life in a foreign land, away from family and all that they knew. Struggling to make ends meet both parents worked and I was a latch key child. Through these and subsequent struggles my resilience grew and my perspective on life, myself, and others changed. I have no regrets. I am in counseling to help people make meaning of their lives and free themselves from their psychological chains.
I take a person-centered approach from the onset to build on their sense of self-efficacy. I use trauma modalities such as EMDR and Brainspotting to achieve efficient healing of past traumatic memories. If clients are unresponsive to EMDR and Brainspotting, I use CBT to help them address their cognitive distortions and reframing to see a different perspective on the situation. I also provide psychoeducation to empower individuals with knowledge and tools, exercises, and resources they can access immediately to address their presenting symptoms.
